paris, part 1: villa savoye
02.5.2010 it's been cold and dreary in raleigh the past few days, and i've been dreaming of far away places. as i gazed through my photos from all the places i would rather be, i realized i haven't posted my favorites from paris yet. i decided i would start with an architectural mini-pilgrimage we took just outside of paris.
a short 30 minute train ride plus 10 minute bus ride northwest of the center of paris lies a town by the name of poissy. it is a gritty town compared to the more glamorous parts of paris and versailles, however within it, a little architectural jewel resides. up the hill away from the train station sits one of le corbusier's more famous built projects: villa savoye. i could spend time giving you some stuffy history of this architectural gem, but really - you're not here to read you're here to look.
one caveat when viewing these... neither do i claim to be a talented architectural photographer, nor do i really enjoy it. you would think with my background that architectural photography would be a perfect way to marry my talents and passions. think again. i do, however, enjoy these and the way they capture my memory of my first trip to villa savoye.

sketches from the guest book... students and architects come from around the globe.

robby snapped one of me that i do love...
